"I drive an hour and a quarter each way to see Sean. I’ve tried other acupuncturists closer to home, but he’s so, so worth the trip.  I decided to try him because of his specialty in women’s fertility. I’d been trying for a while to get pregnant and my cycles were completely out of whack, always had been. I tried clomid and IUIs but conventional fertility treatments weren’t my style and didn’t work for me anyway.  Since I’m a scientist, I liked the fact that he had studied Biology – it suggested to me that even if I couldn’t entirely comprehend the language of Chinese Medicine, we’d have that scientific background in common and that might help communication.  He didn’t make promises, but I could tell right away that he was uniquely talented and that he’d be able to help me. My cycles started to improve after the very first treatment (I could see the difference in my fertility chart).  My general health improved too. Since the age of three, I’d been sick with allergies, colds, ear infections, and sinus infections. He got me healthy, and I mean really healthy, like I couldn’t remember ever feeling before. What a wonderful way to be!  And I got pregnant!! I had a good and healthy pregnancy. Close to my due date, when my baby decided that he wanted to turn head up again, Sean convinced him to turn back, averting a C-section. Now my husband and I have a wonderful son. I’m certain that we wouldn’t have him without Sean.  So, what make Sean so good? He seems to have great intuition, and to have a deep understanding of the spiritual aspect of his practice. He’s smart and takes a rigorous approach to solving problems for his patients. He was trained on the West Coast, so that might give him a different perspective from locally trained acupuncturists. He’s very knowledgeable about Chinese herbs and will mix custom formulas. He’s also well-informed about a range of other supplements and alternative treatments. Perhaps most important, he truly cares about his patients and listens. I’d recommend him to anyone."

"My personal experience with naturopathic medicine was exactly how healthcare should be.  My first appointment with Dr. Doherty left feeling completely confident that she would truly help me, as we discussed every possible angle of my health.  She listened carefully to everything I said, asked lots of questions, explained everything very thoroughly, took two pages of notes, and was truly interested and curious about what was causing my symptoms.  She gave me a plan for what we would do first, and if that didn’t work, there were more options to explore until a solution was found.  Instead of feeling like I was never getting anywhere with Western medicine, Dr. Doherty found out that I had an h. pylori stomach infection and got rid of it with gentle herbs rather than harsh antibiotics.  She also made me aware of allergies I didn’t even know I had and told me what I could do to live more comfortably.  Her true desire for me to be completely healthy was so obvious that it made me excited to see her for follow up appointments, rather than dreading being unhappy with what Western medicine would offer me.  Besides the truly worthwhile treatment, it also made a huge difference that Dr. Doherty herself as well as her whole office had a warm and caring feel.  I had a comfortable chair to sit on instead of a cold steel table and nothing was painted that sick, unhealthy shade of hospital pink.  Her office was really a place of healing and comfort as opposed to Western medicine hospitals that look, feel and smell like sick buildings."
