Fertility TreatmentInfertility affects one in six couples in the United States. It is defined as one year of trying to get pregnant without success. Sean is a specialist in treating infertility with acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, and has helped hundreds of infertile couples achieve their dream of pregnancy. He has studied with many renowned Chinese medicine fertility specialists, including Randine Lewis, Mike Berkeley, Dan Camburn and Lifang Liang. Sean and Christine know personally how stressful it is to deal with infertility. They struggled with infertility for two years before having their daughter, Celeste in 2001. They conceived naturally after both undergoing an aggressive natural program of acupuncture, detoxification and relaxation. Traditional Chinese medicine has been used to treat infertility for thousands of years. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs have proven to be effective on their own or in combination with in-vitro fertilization (IVF) or intrauterine insemination (IUI). Studies have shown that acupuncture helps to increase positive outcomes for IVF treatments by up to 60%. Treating Female And Male InfertilityTo ensure the most effective treatment, Sean prefers to work with the man and woman together, using a combination of acupuncture, herbs, and dietary counseling/detoxification to improve fertility. For both men and women, the acupuncture is much more effective when used in combination with Chinese herbs. Sean designs and prepares individualized Chinese herbal formulas for each patient. Sean has a Chinese herbal pharmacy on site and usually dispenses herbs in powdered form, to be mixed with water at home and taken daily. For women, acupuncture and herbs regulate different aspects of the menstrual cycle over a number of months. Weekly treatment for the first five menstrual cycles is standard. Treatment is continued weekly until conception is achieved. Most women continue treatment through their pregnancies. Male infertility is the cause of difficulties getting pregnant in 30-35% of cases. Common male fertility problems include low sperm count, low sperm motility, agglutination and antibody issues. It takes 100 days for sperm to develop, so expect at least three months of treatment. Sean has seen sperm counts and motility increase dramatically with treatment. |
